A day with Abel Solomon
Solomon moved to Eritrea when Ethiopia and Eritrea was still one country. When these countries broke up, it was very restless because of the war. Solomon fled to the Netherlands, where he ended up in Utrecht, Overvecht. He lives there with three men in a house. This house belongs to the shelter Seguro, a shelter that ensures that asylum seekers who have exhausted all legal remedies do not end up on the streets. They also teach them to make something of their lives. Solomon has done a lot of voluntary work since he came to the Netherlands. He gets 50 euros a week from the municipality to buy food and clothing, of which he gives 20 euros to organisations that help with disasters that are going on all over the world.
